Edward Hopper has long been a profound influence on my work. His fascination with light and shadow—and his love of architecture caught in sunlight—deeply shaped how I see and paint the world. His childhood home in Nyack, New York, now a museum and gallery, has been a place
I've dreamed of exhibiting at for many years, though I never quite felt worthy.
This year, I finally took the leap and submitted work to the museum’s 2026 juried exhibition, 55x2, which launches the Edward Hopper House Museum’s yearlong 55th anniversary celebration.
The exhibition was juried by Indira A. Abiskaroon Valbuena, Curatorial Assistant of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Brooklyn Museum. From a high volume of submissions, 55 artists were selected for each of the exhibition’s two parts—honoring the museum’s 55th anniversary while reflecting the juror’s curatorial vision. In her review, the themes of Light and Line emerged as central, paying tribute to Hopper’s artistic development and iconic style.
I’m deeply honored that my painting The Violet Barn was selected for Part 2 of the exhibition, titled “Light.” I’m humbled—and over the moon.
